Disclaimer
Down.Town helps you understand a downtown and prepare for decisions about it. It doesn't replace an official source or a professional who knows your situation. Last updated 29 October 2026.
Written in good faith from reliable sources, for orientation, not as advice for your circumstances.
Calculators use your numbers and rules of thumb. They are not quotes, valuations or forecasts.
An introduction is not an endorsement of a person, property, price or lease.
Not professional advice
Down.Town publishes general information about downtowns for exploring, living and doing business in them. Nothing on the site is legal, financial, tax, investment, real estate, immigration, medical, safety or travel advice, and reading it, using a tool or contacting us does not create a professional or client relationship. For decisions that matter, such as signing a lease, buying a home, moving a team or opening a business, speak to a qualified professional in the right jurisdiction.
Scores are editorial
Down.Town Index scores are the considered judgement of our editors, made with the published method on the Index page. They are not official statistics, they are not a measure of any one street or building, and they cannot be bought.
Calculators are estimates
Our tools produce estimates from the figures you enter and from general rules of thumb, such as space per person or rent as a share of income. They don't know your finances, the local market, a particular building or the terms on offer. Real costs, sizes and outcomes will differ, sometimes a lot. Use the results to frame questions for a broker, landlord, lender or adviser.
Lease and legal conventions
Our Find Space pages describe how commercial leases and related costs typically work in each country. Conventions vary by city, building and landlord, and laws change. Treat them as orientation, and have a local lawyer review any lease or contract before you sign.
Details change
Prices, opening hours, schedules, transit lines, fares, laws, permits, events and businesses change, often without notice. Event dates move from year to year. We review every guide at least once a year, but something may have changed since. Check anything important with the official source, such as the city, the transit agency or the event organiser, before you travel, book or commit.
Safety and practical notes
Our safety and practicality notes are general, balanced observations to help you plan. They are not guarantees, and conditions can change quickly. Follow official advice from local authorities and your own government's travel guidance.
Introductions and partners
Partners we introduce you to are independent businesses responsible for their own services, advice, prices and conduct. Down.Town does not provide brokerage, leasing, moving or event services and is not a party to any agreement you make. Check licences, insurance, references and terms yourself. See the terms of use.
Advertising, sponsorships and listings
Ads are served by Google and its partners, and we don't choose the individual advertisers. Sponsored placements and Featured or Spotlight listings are labelled and paid for. None of them is an endorsement or a recommendation by the Down.Town editors.
Videos, links and submissions
Embedded walking-tour videos are made by independent YouTube creators, and their views and commentary are their own. Links to other websites are for convenience; we don't control those sites. Contest entries, nominations and other submissions reflect the views of the people who sent them.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, Down.Town is not responsible for losses that result from relying on information on the site. The full position, including the rights the law gives you that we cannot exclude, is in the terms of use.
